Oldencraig are extremely excited to present Sydney, a premium Oldenburg gelding by Sarkozy (Sandro Hit). This super elegant gelding with his naturally uphill frame and expressive movement makes him a real head turner. He is already showing great attitude towards his education. Sydney will be competing in the 4yo young horse classes this coming season

He is easy to do in all ways and is a pleasure to work with. He has a super walk with a big over track, a very active trot, showing natural swing and cadence and the canter is very balanced and uphill.

Sydney has a sibling, a 2012 Sarkozy filly Swarovski who is exceptional. She is tall and elegant with outstanding movement, and was awarded a foal premium from the Oldenburg inspectors on their stud tour. This time the stud farm used Sarkozy on their beautiful young mare Bijou Star by Benvenuto (Breitling x Weltmeyer). They are so thrilled with this mare that they decided to retain her for their breeding programme. The resulting foal was Sydney who is a beautiful chestnut colt. Sydney was also awarded a foal premium by the Oldenburg Studbook inspectors who praised his modern frame and correct conformation. He displayed expressive paces which the Inspectors noted remained uphill at all times.

Vice Bundeschampion and Hannoverian Champion,
Sarkozy completed his 30-day test in Schlieckau with excellent results. This noble stallion’s scores for walk, trot, canter, rideability and willingness were all outstanding, particularly the 9.5 which he received for walk.
Sarkozy led the field in the Bundeschampionat final for four year-old stallions, scoring 9.5 for conformation and 9.0 for all basic paces. The jet black stallion only missed out on the title by one point, finishing up as the celebrated vice champion. This achievement came soon after Sarkozy's Riding Horse Championship win in Hanover, where he triumphed with a score of 9.08.
Sarkozy's pedigree is almost inspired because it combines the excellent genes of champion producer Sandro Hit with those of Weltmeyer, a stallion with millions of euro in competition winnings, and this is reflected in his extravagant movement. It is rounded off by premium Hanoverian genes from Bolero and Lungau, producers of many successful championship horses such as Beauvalais, Salinero and Brentina. Sarkozy is a dynamic mover with a generous action through the shoulder that earned him top scores at his licensing test, where the commission judges awarded him an impressive 9.5 for his walk. Sarkozy's first crop of foals are outstanding without exception and one of them was reserve champion at the German Foal Championship.

Bijou Star’s father is Benvenuto who was awarded the coveted Premium title at his licensing despite being one of the only stallion not put forwards for auction. He also scored the maximum score of 10 for temperament and character in his performance test. His father Breitling is currently number one in the German breeding index and is known for producing quality yet trainable offspring who include several licensed sons. Benvenuto’s mother's is by the legendary stallion Weltmeyer who won his stallion licencing, his stallion performance test, the Federal Championships and was awarded the title 'Hanoverian Stallion of the Year', although many may argue it should be 'of the Century'. Weltmeter has sired more than 100 approved sons, 250 State Premium mares, 11 Bundeschampions, and many successful Grand Prix horses including Olympic Gold medalist Weltall and World Cup winner Warum Nicht. One of the most exciting things Weltmeyer does is stamp his offspring with a wonderful hock action.

Bijou Star comes from a very strong dame line littered with State Premium mares and world class stallions. Her mother the State Premium mare Sprite, is a full sister to the dam of the stallion Wizenzo who won the 70-day test in Marbach with the exceptionally high score of 143.9 in the dressage and 134.2 overall. He scored four 10s and five nines, receiving nines for his paces and 10s for temperament and rideability. St. Pr. Sprite is by Sherlock Holmes was the reserve champion of his performance test and is known for being a producer of exceptional broodmares. He has produced several licensed sons and over 40 State Premium mares. He comes from some of the finest Hanoverian blood and his sire Salvano is the grandsire of Anky Van Grunsven's Olympic gold medal winning mount Salinero. Sprite's grandfather is Consul, who is a legendary supplier of sport and breeding horses. His offspring included many outstanding stallions (e.g. E.H. Rockefeller), champion mares (his Hanoverian daughter Cleopatra produced the champion Don Frederico, and also the Olympic Gold medalist Bonaparte is out of a Consul-daughter), and exceptional performance horses at all disciplines and levels (e.g. Crisp, Olympic dressage in 2004 in Athens).

Sydney is already demonstrating signs of a very promising future, which is to be expected with his impeccable breeding. We have high hopes for this attractive and graceful horse, we look forward to finding the right owner to build a new partnership with him and start a promising journey together. Sydney is good to shoe and travels well in a box or trailer.
